Raw Turmeric Sabzi
Turmeric is beneficial for our health because it has curcumin present in it, a compound known for its antiseptic and antiviral properties. The concentration of this compound in raw turmeric is quite high. Turn raw turmeric in this delicious sabzi and enjoy it with roti or parathas.
Ingredients
Ghee or oil as required
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp asafoetida
2-3 green chillies
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 tsp chopped ginger
200 grams grated raw turmeric or turmeric root
3/4 cup plain curd or yoghurt
1 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 cup green peas
1 tsp coriander powder
Salt as per taste
Directions
In a pan, add some oil.
Next add cumin seeds, asafoetida, garlic, ginger and green chillies. Saute.
Next add grated turmeric and cook for 10-15 minutes.
Once the turmeric turns soft, add yoghurt, red chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder. Mix well.
Sprinkle salt to taste and green peas.
Keep the pan covered for 10 minutes and then serve hot.
Raw Turmeric Halwa
If you have a sweet tooth, try this healthy halwa recipe. You just need a few, regular ingredients to make this at home.
Ingredients
100 gram raw turmeric
1/2 cup jaggery
1 cup whole wheat flour
Ghee as required
1 glass milk
Mixed dry fruits (optional)
Directions
In a pan, add ghee and roast whole wheat flour for five to seven minutes. Take off the flame.
Next, add grated turmeric and roast for 10 minutes. Keep aside once roasted.
In the same pan, add some more ghee, roasted turmeric, whole wheat flour, jaggery, and milk.
Cook the mixture for four to five minutes.
Top with dry fruits and serve.
Turmeric Pickle
This crunchy and delicious turmeric pickle is the perfect side for your regular meals. This five minute recipe requires no cooking.
Ingredients
1 cup raw turmeric (cut into strips)
1/2 cup green chillies (slit into two halves)
2 tbsp oil
1/3 cup lemon juice
Salt to taste
3 tsp mustard seeds
Directions
Cut turmeric and green chillies and keep aside.
In a bowl, add all the ingredients.
Keep the pickle covered for at least one to two days.
Your homemade turmeric pickle is ready!
Other Ways Of Adding Turmeric To Your Diet
Add a pinch of turmeric or haldi to your glass of hot milk.
A dash of turmeric to your regular recipes like rice, potato curry, eggs among others.
Sprinkle turmeric over your salads.
While preparing your homemade soups, add a tsp of turmeric.
Drink a glass of turmeric water everyday for great health. Add a pinch of spice to a glass of water. Stir and drink up.
